North Devon Marine Project Ltd (“NDMP” or “we”) is committed to safeguarding your privacy. Please read the following privacy statement to understand how your personal information will be treated when you use or register on the NDMP website, speak to a member of our team, visit our office/workshop or otherwise interact with NDMP. 

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you provide it to us directly, or through your use of our website, for example when you buy products and services from us, fill in a contact form or email us directly. We also collect information when you voluntarily comment on our social media posts and adverts, blog posts, provide feedback and participate in competitions. Website usage information is collected using cookies. The information we collect about you may include; your name, email address, address, phone number, transaction, billing and delivery information, IP address, location, company name, products of interest, your chosen internet browser and service provider, and device plus any information you supply voluntarily. Our marketing mailshots will also track if you have opened or clicked on any specific links, this allows us to better determine our customers preferences to ensure our message is relevant to you.

Why do we need your data? 

We collect information about you to fulfil your request e.g. process your order and provide you with the services you have contracted for, manage your account, manage and respond to any queries or complaints to our team,  and, if you agree, to email you about other products, services, and information we think may be of interest to you. We may use your contact information to advertise our service to you on third-party websites such as Facebook and Instagram. We may also contact you directly to follow up on the service and user experience we provide. We use your information collected from the website to personalise your repeat visits to our website, to improve and maintain our website and monitor its usage. We may also use your information for security purposes, to investigate fraud and where necessary to protect ourselves and third parties, and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. We rely on the following legal bases, under data protection law, to process your personal information:

• Because the processing is necessary to perform a contract with you or take steps prior to entering into a contract with you (e.g. where you have made a purchase with us, we use your personal data to process the payment and fulfil your order).
• Because it is in the legitimate interests of NDMP and your company, where you are submitting an order with NDMP on your company’s behalf.
• Because we have obtained your consent (e.g. where you contact us with a query, where you add optional information to your account profile, or if you consent to receive marketing from us).
• Because it is in NDMP legitimate interests as a service provider to maintain and promote our services. We are always seeking to understand more about our connections in order to offer the best customer experience. We use information about you to tailor your view of NDMP, to make it more interesting and relevant in respect of the products and offer NDMP on view.

We will take cautionary measure to ensure we do not collect any personal data from you we do not need in order to provide and oversee the above services to you.

How long will we store your data for?

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes set out above, and so this period will vary depending on your interactions with us. If we provide any paid for services to you, we are required under UK tax law to keep your basic business or personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed. We may also keep a record of correspondence with you (for example if you have made a complaint about a product) for as long as is necessary to protect us from a legal claim. Your information we use for marketing purposes will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information. A record will be held to ensure we don’t send you future correspondence.

Who do we share your information with?

NDMP needs to share information with certain selected third parties in order to operate our business. Service Providers: We provide information to our service providers acting on our behalf (for example to companies that provide digital marketing services like product recommendation, statistical analysis, business & operational insight, website optimisation), as well as to those third parties involved in the delivery chain (for example freight forwarders, couriers and delivery companies). On occasion, we also share personal information with our professional and legal advisors. Government Authorities: Where you order is due for delivery outside the UK, we may need to share information with customs authorities both in the UK and in the country of destination. We may also share personal information with law enforcement or other governmental authority, e.g. to report a fraud or in response to a lawful request. Credit & Fraud Checking: We may share information with credit reference agencies and with third parties engaged in fraud prevention and detection. Media: From time to time, we may release aggregated and anonymised marketing statistics to business partners, or may use these in press releases, advertising, or published reports. We would only personally identify you or any other customer in such press releases, advertising, or reports with your prior consent. Business or Asset Sale: In the event that we sell any business assets, the personal information of our customers may be disclosed to a potential buyer. In this event, we will make reasonable attempts to ensure the buyer will be bound by the terms of this privacy statement. We may also disclose personal information in cases where we believe the disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or personal safety of NDMP, our customers, employees or the public, or where we are otherwise legally permitted to do so.

Marketing:

We would like to send you updates and information about products and services of ours and other companies which may be of interest to you. If you have consented to receive marketing, you may opt out at a later date. You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes. You can also edit your preferences in the ‘My Profile Update Details’ area of My Account, which you can access anytime through the link in the navigation bar and unsubscribe from emails by clicking on the link in each email. We never sell or pass on your details to third parties. You may also see adverts for NDMP on third party websites, including on social media. These adverts may be tailored to you using cookies (which track your web activity, to enable us to serve adverts to customers who have visited NDMP websites). Where you see an ad on social media, this may because we have engaged the social network to show adverts to our customers, or users who match the demographic profile of our customers. In some cases, this may involve sharing your email address with the social network. If you no longer want to see tailored ads you can change your cookie and privacy settings on your browser and these third-party websites.

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. Mailchimp: 

We use MailChimp  www.mailchimp.com as a processor of information from our website such as the collection (e.g. via sign-up forms) and storage of personal data (within our MailChimp account) in order to allow us to create and use distribution lists, send marketing email campaigns, place online advertisements; and the transfer of personal data to certain of MailChimp’s sub-processors who perform some critical services, such as helping MailChimp prevent abuse and providing support to our customers.

Facebook Advertising:

On occasion we may use Facebook advertising via our Mailchimp account and opted in subscribers may be contacted via their Facebook account.

Changes to our privacy policy:

We may change this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect changes in the law, regulatory guidance or our data privacy practices in compliance with the law. When this happens and where required by law, we will provide you with a new or an updated notice detailing how the use of your personal information is changing and, if necessary, obtain your consent for the further processing.
